It's a beautiful Sunday with everyone rising & shining for the Power Run @ Dataran Merdeka. I had a good time too. My mind was clear & my legs were easy. It's part of my weekends training. It was 10.93km & I managed to finish it by 69mins 35secs.
And the newspaper wrote.....
10KM POWER RUN > Kenyans got the Power
KENYAN runners ruled the men's Open category at the 10km Power Run at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur yesterday as Daniel Kirwa Lel, Daniel Kipkemei Keringo and Gilbert Kiptoo finished first, second and third respectively.
Kirwa Lel, who finished first in 33:26 seconds and took home RM1,000, said he, Kipkemei Keringo and Kiptoo were running buddies who had a lot of fun in the competition. "We came here to compete but also to enjoy ourselves. Now, we will go back home and prepare for the next competition," said the 32-year-old Nairobi-born Kirwa Lel, who also won the Port Dickson Half-Marathon on April 1.
In the women's competition, age proved no obstacle for former national athlete S. Devamani, 37, as she came out tops. "There are no secrets to winning this. For me, it was just discipline and passion," said Devamani. The Team Power runner – who also won in 2002, 2003 and 2004 – clocked 42:52 seconds.
Over 6,000 runners took part in the event jointly organised by Bata Malaysia and the Federal Territory Amateur Athletic Association (FTAAA).
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk G. Palanivel flagged off the runners.
